Custom Money Packet FAQs
What is a money packet?
A money packet is a small decorated envelope used to give money as a gift. In Malaysia it is called an ang pow or angpao for Chinese New Year and sampul duit raya for Hari Raya. AzePrint prints custom money packets with your own design from 10 pieces.
What is the difference between an ang pow and a sampul duit raya?
They are the same kind of envelope used for different festivals. Ang pow are traditionally red and gold for Chinese New Year, while sampul duit raya are traditionally green for Hari Raya. Both are printed as the same custom money packet in any colour you choose.
What sizes are your custom ang pow?
We print two sizes: 170 x 90 mm portrait and 87 x 167 mm landscape. Both are large enough to hold a Malaysian ringgit note without folding.
What is the minimum order for custom money packets?
The minimum order is 10 pieces. You can order any quantity up to 5,000 pieces on the calculator, and request a quote for larger runs.
How much does custom ang pow printing cost in Malaysia?
Custom ang pow cost RM17.60 for 10 pieces (RM1.76 each), RM81.00 for 100 pieces (RM0.81 each), RM582.00 for 1,000 pieces (RM0.58 each) and RM2,520.00 for 5,000 pieces (RM0.50 each), excluding tax. Foil stamping and spot UV cost extra.
What paper are the money packets printed on?
Every packet is printed on sturdy 157gsm art paper, in full colour on one side, and finished with matt lamination.
Can I add foil stamping or spot UV to my ang pow?
Yes. Foil stamping and spot UV are optional finishes you can add on the calculator, from as few as 10 pieces. Many printers need 600 pieces before they will foil stamp.
How early should I order ang pow for Chinese New Year 2027?
Chinese New Year 2027 is on 6 February 2027. Production takes 5 working days after artwork approval, so approve your artwork by Friday, 15 January 2027 to receive your packets with time to spare. Businesses ordering for client gifting should order by mid-December 2026.
How long does custom ang pow printing take?
Production takes 5 working days after you approve your artwork, plus delivery time to your address.
Do you print sampul duit raya for Hari Raya?
Yes. The same custom money packet can be printed in any colour and design, including green sampul duit raya for Hari Raya Aidilfitri and packets for Deepavali and weddings. For Hari Raya 2027, expected around 10 March, approve your artwork by Friday, 19 February 2027.
Are the money packets printed on both sides?
No. Money packets are printed in full colour on one side, the outside of the envelope, and finished with matt lamination.
Do you ship custom red packets to Singapore?
Yes. We deliver across Peninsular and East Malaysia, to Singapore and worldwide.
What should I avoid when designing an ang pow?
Avoid white and black as main colours, because they are linked to funerals. Red and gold are the traditional choices for Chinese New Year, and green is the tradition for Hari Raya. Avoid the number 4 in any printed amount or message, because it sounds like the word for death in Chinese.
